Crossover Olive Oil Soap - From Israel
It is our hearts cry to see the Jew and the Arab living in peace together and this is the reason we have named our soap CROSSOVER. Our prayer is that the Prince of Peace will take our small endeavor in loving these two peoples and cause them to become one in Him.
When Ruby and I first moved to Israel in 2000 we began using olive oil soap that the local Arabs make. I began to see that there was a real difference in the store-bought chemical soaps that we were accustomed to using and this home-made all natural olive oil soap the Arabs made. The pictures on the right (click "auto" on the slide show at right to see the steps involved in making the soap) show the process of growing and gathering the olives and then carrying them to the olive press where we buy the oil to make the finished 100% cold pressed olive oil bar of soap.
This 100% olive oil soap is made in the hills of Samaria by Homer Owen and crew. We buy 100% cold pressed olive oil from the Arab farmers around the Mt. of Blessing. These olives are hand picked and put in sacks that are carried into the processing facility on the backs of Donkeys. The oil is extracted in much the same way it was 3,000 years ago. No heat or chemicals are used in this process in order to preserve the life-giving polyphenol-rich antioxidants that are in pure olive oil.
We use fresh spring water from the Mt. of Blessing that has been tested to be the purest water in Israel along with sodium hydroxide in our soap formula. The sodium hydroxide is the catalyst used to bring about a natural saponification process to change the oil into the purest bar of soap known to man. What you get is a pure bar of soap with no additives that is processed in such a way that does not destroy any of the natural God-given ingredients in the oil. You can use this soap to not only wash your skin but also your hair. You will be amazed at how your skin will feel squeaky clean. This soap has a natural anti-inflamatory quality which is kind to your skin. Your friends will love you for giving them a bar or two as a gift.
We call this soap project CROSSOVER to convey our heart's desire to be a bridge between the Arabs and Jews in the hills of Samaria. We feel that only Jesus can make this Crossover for both Jews and Arabs and we endeavor to work with both groups in hopes of showing them His love in a very practical way.
