12/31/07 - 2008 BREAKTHROUGH YEAR

The number eight is the number for new beginnings. I pray that you are ready for new things to happen in your life in 2008. The God of new beginnings has His eye on you in hopes that you have an expecting heart. He is ready to move mightily in your life as you call out to Him with all your heart.

“The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I am helped. My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to him in song. The Lord is the strength of his people, a fortress of salvation for his anointed one.” (Psalms 28:7-8)

I am amazed at how slow I can be in calling out to the Lord when I need his strength and even more amazed at how He always responds when I do call out. Case in point. On my trip back to the states from Israel I found myself in the middle seat of a packed 777 Boeing. This is an eleven hour flight from Tel Aviv to Atlanta which leaves at 11 PM. I try not to drink too much of anything so that I don’t have to get up too many times to go to the “room”.
About four hours into the flight I found myself with a serious fidgety problem in my right leg. My dictionary says this means to move or act restlessly or nervously or to squirm, twitch, wiggle, fiddle, fuss. I could probably add a few more descriptions but we will let this suffice for this case in point. The woman on my left got up and I took this opportunity to do the same. I went to the galley and endeavored to stretch my body some. In a true state of desperation I called out to the Lord and asked for His strength in my body. Amazingly it took only seconds for this loving God of ours to respond.

I had a split second inner vision of a tree trunk with a solid root footing and a limb being stuck into the trunk. I heard in my spirit these words of comfort – “I AM THE ROOT AND TRUNK AND YOU ARE THE BRANCH” Strength began to flow into my body and naturally I stood in awe and gratitude as I one more time experienced the loving care of our God. I went back to my seat and slept for almost six hours. Glory!

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” (Psalms 46:1)

May God help all of us this coming year to be quick to call on Him when we find ourselves in a fidgety problem. Yes, He is standing at the door of our heart knocking waiting for us to open the door and invite Him in. May He grant each of us special grace to cry out sooner.
