09/13/07 - L'Shana Tova!

Ruby and I want to wish you and your family a Happy New Year – Shana Tova!

Rosh Ha'Shanna (Head of the Year), also known by its Biblical name Yom T'ru'ah (Day of the sounding of the Trumpet) is the first of the fall High Holy Days described in Leviticus 23.

This two day holiday ushers in the Jewish new year (Hebrew year 5768). The New Year celebrations this year, as in many other years, are coming at a tense time in Israel. Just yesterday Hamas rockets injured over 60 IDF soldiers, the situation with Syria has reached near crisis levels this week, and the Iranian nuclear threat remains ever present.

The Jewish New Year is a time to begin introspection, looking back at the mistakes of the past year and planning changes to make in the new year. Let us remember to pray for our Jewish brethren during these times. God has been and will continue to bring Jews home from around the globe.

We can preach the same gospel to the Jews that God preached to Abraham that we read about in Galatians 3:8. That gospel message was that God was giving this land to them as their ever lasting inheritance. It is the same Gospel message that Paul describes in 1 Corinthians 10. We need to pray that the Jewish heart can accept the fact that all of the land is theirs.

All of the feasts are exciting but the most important one is yet to come.

"…the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God…" (1 Thessalonians 4:16)

I pray that you are looking up in expectation of His return. We are told that those who are looking for Him will see Him. Glory!

Thanks for the response to my e-pistle yesterday. May God bless you mightily as you continue to respond to our cry for help. The devil is pretty stirred up over what is taking place in this water project, which is really good news. I lost count of how many wrote and told me they were having trouble in sending a gift. One woman told me that her computer broke down three times before she could transfer her offering. Praise God for her persistence.

If you want to send a check instead of using Pay Pal it is fine with us. Make the check out to The Samaritan Foundation, 6613 Sanger Ave. Waco, Texas 76710. If you want to use Pay Pal with your credit card click here.

Homer & Ruby Owen I had several of you wanting me to explain a little more of how to help. It is our desire to literally fill the pipe line from Israel to the states with containers of water. A container of water has a price tag of $15,000. This is the cost of getting it here and if you so desire you just might want to pay for a container. What a blessing you will be to the Lord if you do this. Yes, it will be a tremendous blessing to us also. Thanks for doing whatever you have in your heart to do.
Blessings, Homer
