"For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them." (Ephesians 2:10)
How do we get to this place where we know we are His workmanship and that He is doing it all through His Spirit? One of the major differences between the Old Covenant and the New is that in the old man was required to perform on a daily basis in order to merit acceptance from his Heavenly Father and in the new we have been brought into a glorious rest from our own labors through the blood of Jesus.
John the Baptist and Jesus both preached repentance. John demanded that man bring fruits of repentance and Jesus gives Himself as our redemption and in this we become first fruits of a whole new way or covenant. John said that he must decrease so that Jesus can increase. Glory!
Praise God for His great goodness which literally is in a man – that man being Jesus, the Christ.
The Lord spoke to Ruby and myself when we arrived in Ariel that we were to be His church. Where any two are gathered together they form His church. We are His temple and abiding place. The Lord spoke to us that He desired for us to become His sanctuary. It just didn't seem right or proper for us to put a steeple on top of the Texas Mini Golf deli in Ariel. Each day we endeavored to go to the mini golf to establish His Kingdom, first of all in our hearts, and then in the hearts of all those who came that day for a drink or water or a burger or a little ice cream.
"The kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit." (Romans 14:17)
An old friend that I had discipled almost thirty years ago called the other day and we met at Starbucks for a cup of coffee. This brother had spent many years in a group that basically still operates in a John the Baptist mode and my friend is endeavoring to get back into the goodness of God stream of living. A couple walked up to our table and asked me if I am in fact Homer Owen. They were on their way from Dallas to Houston and had decided to stop for refreshments at our local Starbucks on I-35.
They shared how they had been on my e-pistle list for several years and thought they recognized me from my picture. They shared with me that their son and daughter in law were moving to Waco and they had all prayed the Lord would lead them to some like minded folks here that they might have fellowship. We are excited about meeting them and allowing the Lord to continue to allow us to hook up with more of His family. Praise God that we are all in the family of God.
Bottom line is that four of us where having Church at Starbucks this past Friday afternoon. In a few minutes another couple came up to share the love of Jesus with each other. There is no telling what would have happened if we had hung around for awhile. Back behind the counter working to serve coffee was a young woman full of the Holy Ghost who prays each day that God will move in ways where He is glorified. Is God good or what? This young woman has Godly parents and it just so happened that the new couple moving to town will be working in the same company that her father works. Yes, our God is an awesome God.
Back to my original question. How do we know we are His workmanship and that He is doing it through His Spirit? I guess we just need to step forward and say, Yes Lord, I believe I am your workmanship and I yield myself to your Goodness. Cause me to be all you have in your heart for me to be dear Jesus and I give you all the glory. Amen and Amen.
Blessings, Homer Owen
Let me share a brief testimony from a happy customer: "Homer, I purchased your lip balm and soap and a jar of body balm for my mother. She began using the balm on a spot on her leg that had the beginnings of an ulcer and it healed up almost immediately. Thanks for providing these wonderful products for us." CA.
