07/11/07 - LET GOD ARISE

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight." (Proverbs 3:5-6)

For the past seven years we have endeavored to allow the life of Jesus to come forth out of us to the folks in Ariel, Israel. When we first opened our mini golf some of the young people decided to make our place a hang out and literally they would hang around until the wee hours of the morning. When we would return to the mini golf the following day we always had a mess to clean up. Our place was broken into on a regular basis and things were taken.

It was a real challenge to forsake our own understanding and to acknowledge Him and only by His multiplied grace did we hang in there and not high tail it back to Texas. Have you ever picked up dozens of cigarette butts and bless the kids that had thrown them down on your property? James tells us that our works will justify us and not by faith alone. (James 2:24) Yes, it is work to pick up cigarette butts and other trash and have a good attitude which in our particular case was to not point a finger and correct with our words.

"This you know, my beloved brethren, let every one be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger; for the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God. Therefore putting aside all filthiness and all that remains of wickedness, in humility receive the word implanted, which is able to save our souls." (James 1:19-21)

In due season we began to see a change take place in the young people without our saying a word to them. The Lord was telling us to put aside all the trash and in humility receive the engrafted word. We have been told that His love will not fail, but it is like works along with our faith, it has to be applied in a very practical way to produce fruit. If we are not careful we will discover that much of our religion is theory and concepts rather than life. Lord, we are asking you today for your life to come forth through us so that we might see darkness removed by your Light.
