04/24/07 - TWO MINDS ON THE ALTAR

The Lord has much to say about our minds. We must understand that we have two minds. Our soulish mind and the mind of our inner man or spirit man. Paul talks about our need to offer a sacrifice of our bodies to the Lord, which includes our minds.

"I urge you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect." (Romans 12:1-2)

When Adam and Eve died in their walk with the Lord, it was a spiritual death. The Lord told them that they would die when they ate of the tree that would give them knowledge. This is the mind that must be renewed and it is renewed by the mind of the Spirit.

"For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace, because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so; and those who are in the flesh cannot please God." (Romans 8:5-8)

Praise God that we have been born again of the Spirit. With this comes the Mind of Christ who has been made one with our spirit. In the 7th verse in the above passage of scripture we are told that our mind of the flesh is hostile to God and is incapable of be otherwise. Praise God we can subject this fleshly mind to the cross and come forth in the newness of life and see a whole new mind come forth.

Naturally it would be wonderful to see an instant change in the way we think but I have not seen this happen in myself or anyone else. I have seen the miracle working power of God renew my mind on many occasions over the years, but I am sure that I have not yet totally arrived. At the same time I have great hope that He will not quit working in me to will and do of His good pleasure until I meet him fact to face. I love the following verse.

"For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus." (Philippians 1:6)

Jesus had a mind that had to be brought into subjection to the mind of God. He cried in the garden just before He was crucified that he would not live by His will but by the will of God. Yes, He was on his way to the perfect altar for mankind when he cried this. We must be willing to put our soulish mind on the cross with Christ so that we can come forth in newness of life with Him. This is taking the old man off and putting the New Man on. Glory! At the same time we need to present our New mind as a living sacrifice as we walk this walk. Glory!

"Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, let your mind dwell on these things." (Philippians 4:8)

Homer & Ruby Owen We will be shortly flying to Israel and we want to thank all of you for praying with us and for us and standing with us as we pursue the heart of God for Israel and the Jewish people. Yes, may His will be done. Here is a short testimony from a dog lover. "Homer, just placed a reorder for your soap- Ruby was right on – I love it and my 14 year old rat terrier loves it, too. She gets a weekly bath, and her fur is softer than it has ever been. I was skeptical about shampooing wit it, but after only two uses, I was sold." --- Betty

Thanks Betty, for this testimony about yourself and your dog.
