01/30/07 - ESTABLISHING A MEMORIAL

I recently attended a memorial service for a woman who had gone on into glory to be with the Lord and to join that great cloud of witnesses that are around the throne of God with great anticipation on the soon return of the King of Glory! Come quickly Lord Jesus! I want to share a little bit today about establishing a living memorial. At the grave site that day I noticed a large tombstone which had these words inscribed upon it: "IT WAS FUN WHILE IT LASTED"

"One day at about three in the afternoon, Cornelius had a vision. He distinctly saw an angel of God, who came to him and said, "Cornelius!" Cornelius stared at him in fear. 'What is it Lord?' he asked. The angel answered, 'your prayers and gifts to the poor have come up as a memorial offering before God. Now send men to Joppa to bring back a man named Simon who is called Peter'." (Acts 10:3-5)

Has the Lord sent an angel to you recently at 3 in the afternoon with a message from heaven? Three times in this chapter the Holy Spirit makes mention of the alms giving of Cornelius. It is interesting to realize that the Lord chose this giving Italian centurion to be the first gentile to hear the good news from our friend, Peter.

Praying Last week I was asked to share with a group about Israel and part of my message was that the Lord's preferred way is to the Jew first in our outreach. One of the men came up to me after my sharing and gave me a nice offering with the instructions to use it in our ministry in Israel. Yesterday afternoon the Lord directed me to take Ruby and go to this man and pray for him. We were used of God to speak into this man's life and to bless him because he had established a living memorial before the Lord. We expect to hear a good testimony from this man of how the Lord has prospered him – because of his giving.

We find a similar story about another centurion one day in the ministry of Jesus. This centurion had a servant, (very possibly a Jew) who was sick and the centurion sent some of the elders of Israel to ask Jesus to come and heal his servant. The elders pointed out to Jesus that this centurion loved the nation of Israel and had built them a synagogue. Jesus wasted no time in going to this centurion and healing came forth without the Lord even going into the home. (Luke 7)

A couple of weeks ago I was called to a home of a friend that needed healing and on the way I was thanking the Lord for the generous heart of this man towards us and our work in Israel and an amazing thing took place. They told me that when they heard me coming up to the house the Lord instantly touched him. Now is God good? Glory!

The Lord is speaking to me at this instant about a man named Bill who came to Israel to help us remodel the volunteer house. Bill willingly laid his life down and I hear the Lord telling me that He in turn has laid His life down for Bill and that his heart will now grow stronger by the day. Thank you Lord Jesus for your faithfulness to look after your own. You are a good God and worthy to be praised for your goodness.

"I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you: I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you." (Genesis 12:2-3)

I am praying that the Lord will make abundantly clear to you the importance of putting Israel up on the top of your giving list. Let this God of Israel know that you are desiring to establish a living memorial now.

Homer & Ruby Owen May He grant you a joyful giving heart so that they can put on your tombstone that it was fun because I gave unto the Lord. Of course we appreciate your giving to us, but please pray about where you are to give concerning Israel.

Thanks for your prayers as I prepare to fly to England this week end to minister in Worthing and then on to Israel. Your love and prayers and support are felt, needed and appreciated. Blessings, Homer.
